In BrioHR, there are three (3) formula to calculate basis of unpaid leave calculations =

  1. Fixed Number of Days
  2. Working Days in Current Calendar Month (including public holidays)
  3. All Days in Current Calendar Month (including public holidays)

It's important to know how the daily rate is being calculated for every formula above.

If you're looking for where to set up basis of unpaid leave calculation, please refer here

Fixed Number of Days

Salary/ (Number of working days set in the system) = Daily Rate

Example:

Salary = RM 5,000

Unpaid Fixed Days set in the System = 26

Unpaid leave taken = 5 days

RM 5000 / 26 = daily rate = RM 192.30

RM 192.30  (daily rate) x 5 (days of unpaid leave) = RM 961.538 (this is the amount to be deducted from gross salary)

Working Days in Current Calendar Month

Salary/(Total days in the month - Total weekends in the month) = Daily Rate

Example:

Salary = RM 5000

Month = March 2023 (23 working days if 5-day work day)

Unpaid leave taken = 5 days

RM 5000 / 23 working days in March 2023 = daily rateRM 217.3913

RM 219.3913 (daily rate) x 5 (days of unpaid leave) = RM 1,086.9565 (this is the amount to be deducted from gross salary)

All Days in Current Calendar Month

Salary/ (calendar days in the month) = Daily Rate

Example:

Salary = RM 5000

Month = March 2023

Days in the month = 31 days

Unpaid leave taken = 5 days

RM 5000/31 days = daily rate = RM 161.2903

RM 161.2903 x 5 (days of unpaid leave) = RM 806.4516 (this is the amount to be deducted from gross salary)
