A) How to fill in children's information in BrioHR for Childcare Leave?

It's important to ensure the employee's children information are added/updated accurate in his Profile > Family Details before creating and assigning the ChildCare leave type to the employee in Part B below.

You may refer to this article on how you can update the children's information of the employees eligible for this leave.

B) How to create a Childcare Leave policy?

1) Go to: HR Lounge > Leave > Leave Policies > Add new leave type > Fill in details > Leave type template > Select Singapore Childcare Leave

Note: This leave type cannot be set up as a credit-based leave.

2) This leave type created is pre-filled with the recommended settings in accordance with the regulations by MOM

For example the Annual Entitlement, Percentage of monthly prorated entitlement, Maximum Entitlement, and Rounding options.

Note: Some of these settings are disabled due to the regulations in place by MOM, for example:

1) Carry Forward
2) Earned Leave
3) Seniority
4) Linking of leave types

An example of the warning message when these settings are enabled is shown in the screenshot below:

3) Once the settings have been selected accordingly, scroll up to TOOLS.

Click on
Assign Policy > Select employees > Assign the policy accordingly > Apply

4) Next, click on Childcare limit to ensure that those employees with eligible children appear in the list below along with their entitlement.

Note: Add “UTILIZED AMOUNT” for employees in scenarios when the employee was previously employed in a different company and has utilized the childcare leave, OR in the case that the company was previously using a different HR software and the childcare leave amount would need to be migrated over.

Note: The Annual limit is the maximum number of days that the employee is provided with for the current year. This entitlement is affected by the Utilized Amount and the Maximum Entitlement set in the policy. The Annual Limit displayed is before proration (if applicable) and the current year's leave utilization.

The number of days available for the employee to utilize will be accurately reflected in the leave entitlement dashboard as shown in the screenshot below:

5) Employees can then proceed to apply for Childcare leave on the system as per usual.

Go to:
Home > My Leave > Apply Leave > Select leave type > Fill in the dates > Submit

Note: The childcare leave entitlement can only be utilized in the current year, this leave cannot be utilized for previous/future years.

The system will display an error message if the leave is being placed for previous/future years.
